How to store and protect your cards
Sleeves, toploaders, binders and habits so your cards do not lose value.
- 01
Sleeve and toploader
Every card worth the effort goes in a soft sleeve and, on top, in a rigid toploader or card saver. For the most valuable ones use premium sleeves, acid-free and PVC-free.
- 02
Binders and boxes
Binders should be side-loading and PVC-free, so the card does not stick to the plastic over time. Cardboard card boxes are a good way to keep large amounts upright and in order.
- 03
How to handle them
With clean, dry hands, holding them by the edges. Never with rubber bands, paper clips or tape, and without writing on them or resting heavy objects on top.
- 04
Where to keep them
In a cool, dry, dark place. Humidity warps the card and encourages mould; sun and direct light fade the ink over time. Avoid storage rooms, basements and cars.
- 05
Going to a meetup
Carry the cards in sleeves and toploaders inside a rigid box or binder, not loose in a pocket. If the value is high, never leave them unattended and always stay inside the trusted spot.
